Discovering the Path of Divine Love
Jan Blackston
Being raised in an orthodox religion, I was taught to believe what the Bible teaches even with all of the contradictions was the infallible truths. It just was and you didn't question it or the preachers. I now believe that the Bible is a great historical book that has had many revisions, but nevertheless reveals the accounts of many great prophets and teachings.
I began questioning my beliefs when looking back over my life, I realized that there had been very few answered prayers. I then questioned why we would ask anybody other than God, our Creator, to answer our prayers. That’s when I decided to start praying to God with ALL my heart, leaning not to my own understanding and in all my ways, I acknowledged Him and He started directing me in my path. That’s when my path to seeking truths began.
This path has taught me to realize that we are to seek the truth for ourselves, individually; not just some doctrine or the preacher’s well-delivered sermon for even the Bible tells us to “prove all things and to hold fast which is good.”
Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, ask and it shall be given. I then started to study all the earliest religions as I wanted to get back to the beginning of truths before man started adding and changing things for their own personal power and gain. I sincerely wanted to worship the God who created me and sustains me.
To me the Bible taught what Jesus himself said: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” When I understood that Jesus pointed the way to God, his father, my spiritual paths began to open up.
What a blessing it was when I understood that God is not a wrathful God wanting the blood of Jesus and his death on the cross to save us from our sins, but a God of Love who wants us to seek His Divine Love so that He can impart his Soul, His Divine Love to us. God’s gift to humanity was not in the life and death of Jesus but his teachings that show us the way to God and the potential of living a Divine Life of Love forever. I am so thankful to Jesus for sharing his Father’s love with me.
It just makes sense that in order for God to keep His kingdom pure that only those who will be there are those who want to by sincerely seeking for His Divine Love and taking on the qualities of God. When Divine Love flows into your Soul, you take on His character by being born again and truly becoming a child of God so that Heaven will never become defiled with sin.
Through my day to day experiences, His Divine Love lovingly shows me when I am in error and then He gives me the choice of free will to change. I then choose to give it to God and He replaces the error with His Divine Love and the things of error are no longer in my nature or character. Each day I choose to ask God to direct my path and He does by sending his Angels to guide and help me make good choices. Therefore, everything that happens, happens for the reason of helping me to develop my love and character in His essence.
Every day in all things I strive is to ask God for His Divine Love and direction in my life because He’s my creator, my Father and my best friend. He chose me to be a part of His creation and I want to thank Him by doing His will. Can you imagine the adventure this life can be when we ask and know that God is directing our paths?
I am looking forward in the future to the mansion that God has prepared for me through my Soul development. I no longer fear death, as I now know that one day when I shed this earthly body that my life is not over. It’s just the beginning!
